Wii Fit

Item Description

The active-play phenomenon started by Wii Sports now spreads to your whole body thanks to Wii Fit and the pressure-sensitive Wii Balance Board, which comes bundled with it. Used together players will experience an extensive array of fun, dynamic and surprisingly challenging activities, including aerobics, yoga, muscle stretches and balance oriented games. The focus of these activities is towards providing a "core" workout, a popular exercise method that emphasizes slower, controlled motions, but it's the fun approach to fitness of Wii Fit that will keep players hooked on fitness for years to come.Have fun while you get fitThe Wii Balance Board. View larger. The Wii Fit Balance BoardThe primary tenet of Wii Fit is balance. Your center of balance, the point between your left and right sides when you stand upright, has a lot to do with your health. Those without an even center of balance will be unnaturally compensating for this imbalance, which causes their posture to become misaligned, increasing the possibility of putting unnecessary strain on their bodies. This is where the Wii Balance Board comes in.Similar in appearance to a step aerobics board, the Wii Balance Board is much, much more. Easily capable of supporting weights up to a maximum of 300 pounds, it is sturdy and precise, able to measure weight and register pressure accurately when placed on a variety of flat surfaces. This advanced level of sensitivity allows for both the wide range of activities found in the Wii Fit software as well as the board's amazing ability recognize individual players by their weight alone.Getting Started: Create a ProfileBefore you jump into doing exercises and activities, you'll start by creating a profile. This is done easily and intuitively by simply choosing a Mii, entering your height and age information, and doing a few quick tests that will serve as a baseline for your new Wii fitness regimen. These tests are:

5 stars Good workout, too much chatter 2009-07-17

Reviewer: damurph

This is a wonderful program with good exercises, especially for those who want to build their core muscles and improve their balance. It's costlier than most because of the balance board, but still well worth it. The main drawback is that I wish the programmers would give you an option to reduce the trainer's chattiness. Some comments are helpful, certainly, but too often it's just chatter that gets annoying after you've heard it 20 or 30 or a thousand times.

4 stars The Wii fit is fun! 2009-07-17

The Wii fit is very fun to play, especially with other people. It measures you weight, height and fittness goals that you can lock with a password if you don't want anyone to see them. I think it is pretty funny that you Wii character adjusts to your weight. I'm fluffy so when I weighed myself my Wii chacter got fat. I thought it was funny. If you are slender, your Mii gets skinnier too.

The more you play the more time you get in this little piggy bank and after so many minutes you can unlock new games and options. I've just started and while the games are great, they are very short. You have to keep starting over again. I think you can unlock something to adjust the time you play.

The workouts are pretty good especially the hoola hoop. Very fun :) But not really challenging if you are used to harder workouts except the hoola hoop. Very good for the abs and back.

The other thing I didn't like is for the strength training and yoga portions there is no way that I could find to link the moves together to make one smooth workout. After you do your move you can repeat it or go back to the screen and choose another. It's kind of annoying which is why I rated it only 4 stars instead of 5.

Overall it's fun to play and I would recommend purchasing this but ONLY if you can get it for the regular price. The prices got out of control during the holiday season and it is not work more than the regular cost.

4 stars Wii Fit for all Ages 2009-07-13

I bought this game for my 69 yr old mother with bad knees. This has been a great way for her to get exercise and have fun. The only short fall I see - I wish you could string together several exercises and run thru them without all the chatter.

5 stars Best way to workout! 2009-07-11

We got this for our family to exercise. Who knew it would be so much fun! Great way to stay fit. Makes you feel like your playing a game instead of exercising.

5 stars A Fun Work Out 2009-07-10

Reviewer: D. Gutierrez

I recently moved to Nigeria and it's not the type of place where you can go for a nice stroll if you want to work out. I'm so glad we got the Wii Fit because I can work out whenever I want, I'm one of those people who does not like waiting to use a certain machine or going to the gym and having people talk to me.I'm glad that now I can workout in my underwear, or take a break and not have to worry about if the machine I was using will still be free. I'm finding the Wii Fit to be lots of fun too, I'd recommend it to anyone.
