5 stars Keeps it clean! 2009-08-07

Reviewer: Heather Lion

I shopped around for several different covers and styles for the wii fit balance board, and this one takes the cake. I don't feel like it changes the "feel" of the games like the bumpy/textured ones do, and it definitely feels stronger and more secure than other silicone sleeves out there (we checked out at least five similar-looking ones in the stores). It hasn't affected sensitivity at all, and best of all keeps the board clean and dust free (we live in a carpeted house).

The silicone is comfortable to sit on, and is especially useful for the strength exercises that involve putting your hands/ankles/elbows on the board. It is much more comfortable having the silicone cover there. The only downside is that it does slip a bit when you lean on it at an extreme angle, but this is rare (even in the warrior pose) and it is not enough to make me worried about slippage or rippage.

As for durability and fit, I was fairly careful when putting it on, and haven't had any need to remove it since then. It has "pegs" that fit into the holes in the bottom of the board, creating a snug and secure fit. While I have heard other reviewers talk about it ripping, I have used it quite vigorously, and my 200-lb husband also does all the exercises on it. I will update this review if anything does happen, but right now it's hard to imagine how mine would rip at all. I hope this helps!

4 stars looks and fits great; does affect gameplay somewhat, protects board 2009-07-24

I have not had any durability problems with mine yet; however, I am already aware that silicone skins for most products of any kind are a little fragile in some respects. While they won't tear from just using the board, or whatever the product may be, putting them on is a little tricky. Make sure not to pull hard from any single place, but rather, distribute the force over as wide an area as possible. (In other words, don't pull it on with one hand gripping a tiny piece. Think of it as putting on tights and apply slowly, carefully, and without putting too much tension on a single spot.)

Ok, that aside, the product fits well and snugly over the board, the the glow-in-the dark feature is perfect, since sometimes I forget to put it away and people might otherwise trip on it at night. (And yes, it really glows in the dark!)

Does it affect your game-play? A little. For standing, it makes no difference. For moving around, it sometimes does by shifting ever so slightly. Your feet grip the silicone very well, but the silicone does not grip the board quite as effectively. But this is minor enough that it's better to keep it on the board, especially if you used it barefoot before and had to grab windex now and then...not that that happened with my clean little feet ;-)

5 stars Fits perfectly!! 2009-07-17

I have had this cover since April, and took the entire Wii to a cabin trip in MN where all my stepkids and nieces & nephews pounded on it for hours. It withstood heavy use by kids between 5 and 17 brilliantly!

It was easy to put on (I was worried because of some of the reviews I'd read!). I can imagine that, if one didn't read the instructions, one might try to put the sleeve on after putting the carpet feet on, and that might present a bit of a challenge. However, I had zero complications, and feel this product is just fantastic.

4 stars Slips a bit 2009-07-06

This sleeve does its job and keeps dust off my balance board. It's not the tight fit I was hoping for, but that does make it easier to put on. The only issue I have is that it's very smooth and not the "sticky" silicone like they used in the sleeves for the remotes. Consequently, the sleeve tends to slip if I'm doing something like the Warrior yoga pose, where my weight is on the board and pushing forward. My foot stays with the sleeve, but the sleeve starts inching forward.

4 stars Okay, nothing special 2009-06-21

The color is extremely pale; it barely has much color to it at all. When I first pulled it out of the box I thought it was white. It doesn't fit very snugly over the Wii Fit, so there is some gapping along the sides, and if I'm doing a half-on half-off exercise (like the Warrior Pose), there is a little bit of sliding of the sleeve that initially affects the ability to strike a steady pose. We got the cover to protect against scuffing and staining of the Wii Fit and so far it's doing a good job of that. The issues I've had aren't detrimental to my ability to use and enjoy the Wii Fit so I give it four stars.
