Company Rating System Details

The alonovo.com Company Rating System is designed to provide a comprehensive overview of a company’s social responsibility—positive values which benefit people, planet, and profit.

The alonovo.com Company Rating System has three main goals:

  • To provide an easy rating for quick decision making (Company Report Card)
  • To provide detailed company information for involved decision making   (Detailed
    Company Report Card Page)
    .
  • To provide customizable values settings  (Set Your Values Page).

The alonovo.com Company Rating System begins with data from trusted,third-party Sources. These Sources provide accurate company ratings on relevant consumer issues which we call Metrics. Metrics are then grouped and averaged into Impact Groups. Impact Groups are then averaged to provide the overall Values Rating for a company. Below are more details on each of these terms.

Values Ratings

This summary score is useful in assessing the value of a company's impact at a glance. This score appears wherever a company appears on the website. Where there is not data, N/A appears. The values rating system has two main modes: Values Rating and My Values Rating.

Values Rating

This is the baseline mode for unregistered users. It represents the overall rating of a company’s social responsibility.  These baseline ratings come from trusted, third-party research organizations.

My Values Ratings

This is the weighted mode for registered users.  It represents the overall rating of a company, weighted by your values. After you register with alonovo.com, you have the opportunity to weight the ratings and to customize the issues to match your values.  The ratings are then calculated by combining third-party measures of a company's influence (impact) with shoppers' responses about their personal convictions (values).

The Green Dots

All scores in the rating system are given on a scale of 1 to 5 dots, 1 being poor and 5 being excellent.  Green dots are used for all scores that have been adjusted to reflect shoppers' values, while blue dots are used for the source data from third-party sources. Where there is no data, "N/A" appears.

Impact Groups (Rating Details)

To make it easier for users to get quick overview of company ratings, we’ve summarized the ratings into five groups:

  • Social Responsibility
  • Healthy Environment
  • Fair Workplace
  • Customer Commitment
  • Business Ethics

Each above category represents a major group impacted in the consumer process. The overall Values Rating for each company is reached by combining these category scores. These categories are used on product detail pages to give a medium-range view of the company's impact. This view is also referred to as the Company Impact Card.

Metrics (Company Data)

Metrics are measurements of a company's real life actions that affect consumers throughout the lifecycle of the product. Examples include: a company's support for women and minorities, their clean energy use, and a company's known support for local economies. The Metrics get grouped and averaged to provide Impact Groups. It is our goal is to represent a wide diversity of issues. If there is a metric you don’t see that you think we should cover, please contact us (feedback@alonovo.com) and we will see what we can do integrate it to the mix. alonovo.com is powered by people like you!
